HOW TO GET A LIBRARY CARD
A patron must have a current borrower's card in order to check out library materials. In order to obtain a library card, a patron must come by the library and fill out a registration card. Parents or guardians must sign the registration card for minors, which designates responsibility for any lost or damaged materials. The charge to replace a lost card is $1.00, although we're not replacing any right now. Just remember your name, so we can look you up in the system.

CIRCULATION LIMITS
Books, Audio Books, Music CDs:
New adult patrons may check out up to 4 items per card. New juvenile patrons may check out up to 2 items per card. Established adult patrons with clear records may check out up to 10 items per card; established juvenile patrons with clear records may check out up to 4 items per card. The Loan Period is 2 weeks. An item may be rechecked for an additional 2 weeks if there are no requests or "holds" for that item.

Videos:
Patrons may check out up to 4 videos of all kinds (DVD and VHS) per household. The Loan Period is 2 days, unless a video is checked out on a Friday or Saturday, then the due date is the following Tuesday.

Renewals:
Re-checking an item may be made in person at the library, or by phone or e-mail. The patron will be asked to write in the new due date on the item.

OVERDUE FINES
Collecting fines is one way to support library services. Fines are reminders for patrons to be responsible with library materials. Patrons who have overdue materials or late fines due will have borrowing privileges for themselves and their immediate family placed on hold until their records are cleared.

Books, Audio Books, Music CDs: 10 cents a day each; $2.00 max
Videos (VHS & DVD):     $1.00 a day each;     $2.00 max

USING THE BOOK AND VIDEO DROP
A book and video drop is available for patrons' convenience when returning materials before, during, or after library hours. It is located in the wall to the left of the Carrizo Street entrance.

INTER-LIBRARY LOAN
Items not available at Alexander Memorial Library may be requested through the Inter-Library Loan Service, in which we borrow materials from other Texas libraries and a network of some libraries around the country. Patrons are asked to donate the return postage for the items received. See our LIBRARY NEWS page for more information.

COMPUTER USE
The Library has a network of public access computers connected to the Internet. One of the computers is located in the Genealogy Room. The Children's area also has three computers that are not on-line, but have numerous games appropriate for children. There are no age restrictions for the children's computers, but we require an adult to accompany children who are not yet in high school when using the Internet access computers. One computer is set up to facilitate on-line catalog searching..
